Hide files behind text files The secret trick

In the NTFS file system When you create a new file , one unnamed default stream is created to store all data written to the file.Since NTFS file system in Windows 2000 or above supports Alternate Data Streams, you are allowed to create additional streams for text file. All data stored in the addition streams will be hidden and no one will be able to read the data. This may be useful when you would like to hide some sensitive info from being read by others when sharing the file to public.

What is Alternate Data Stream??

In simple words it is a facility to hide data behind data.
This can be used to hide malicious virus files behind other text or graphic files.

How to hide text file behind a text file??

Here is an example to hide text file behind a text file.
1> Create a text file using Command Prompt.
Go to Run, type cmd. Change the directory if you want.
Type
echo visit etricks.in for cool computer tricks > etricks.txt:hidden
Here hidden is alternate data stream created along with etricks.txt
2>To enter data using that hidden data stream type
notepad etricks.txt:hidden
You will see a popup saying “Cannot find the C:\etricks.txt:Hidden.txt file”. Do you want to create a new file?”.
click yes.
3> Type anything you want and press ctrl+s.
4> Now go to C drive. There won’t be any such file. You will see etricks.txt only.
5> To view data in hidden file go to cmd and type
notepad etricks.txt:hidden
and now you can see the data in etricks.txt:hidden.txt

How to hide .exe file behind txt file??

Procedure is quite similar to the above one.
c:\> type c:\windows\notepad.exe > hello.txt:note.exe
Here notepad.exe is copied to hello.txt:note.exe
Now when you copy hello.txt, note.exe is also copied along with it.

  2. Rename it to whatever you want.
  3. Now go to windows directory and copy that newly created shortcut here.
That’s it. To verify this go to run and enter the name of shortcut.

Method 2: Regedit Trick

  1. Go to Start->Run->type Regedit and hit Enter.
  2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE >> SOFTWARE >> Microsoft >> Windows >> CurrentVersion >> App Paths
  3. Right click on App Paths and select New-> Key. Name it whatever you want your run command to be.
  4. Now click on newly created key. There will be Default string in right side pan.  Double click on it and enter the path to Application or folder.
  5. Right click on right side panel and create new string and rename it to Path.
  6. Double click on Path and enter the path to application or Folder.
  7. Close registry and Restart your Explorer.
Go to run and type the command you created.

How To Make fake viruses in windows

We Take no responsibility for any of this tricks , Do it at your own risk ;) . HaveFun
There are several kinds of fake virus messages you can make. I will discuss 4 of them:
1. Fake computer virus error message
This one is by far, the easiest and all you have to do is to make a new text document with notepad, type msg * YOUR MESSAGE and save as anything.bat. As always, make sure that you select All files instead of Text Document.

2. Forced shutdown trojan.
This will display a custom error message and start a countdown which will shut down the computer.
Right-click your desktop and create a new shortcut.
Paste the following code into the Location box in the Create Shortcut
menu:shutdown -s -t 30 -c “Your message here”Replace 30 with the length of the countdown you want (in seconds) and place your custom error message between the quotes. Click next and name the shortcut to something the victim would be likely to click on such as “Internet explorer” or “My Documents”, etc.
Next you’d want to change the icon. Right-click on the shortcut you made and click properties. Find the Change Icon button and click it. Choose a suitable icon for the name you chose earlier.

And that’s all! Now you just have to sneak the shortcut onto the victim’s desktop and run!
Note: to stop it, open Run from the start menu and type shutdown-a.

3. Endless Command prompt windows trojanThis will open up a series of command prompt windows that will never end.
The basic idea is that there are two .bat files that open the
other one when opened, so the other one opens the first one again and the windows just won’t stop coming.
How to do this:
1. Fire up notepad and type: start 2.bat2. Save it as 1.bat (make sure you choose all files when saving it)
3. Make another new text document and type: start 1.bat4. Save it as 2.bat into the same folder as the other one.

All you have to do to start it is to click on either of them.

The on
ly way to stop it is to wait for the windows to become so numerous that they are a group on the taskbar. Then you can use Close group to get rid of the bastards.
4. Fake Command prompt trojan viruses
This is also a good way to make the victim believe that a worm is gnawing at their hard drive and that they can’t do anything to stop it.
Open up notepad and type @echo off
  • To make text appear, type it after an echo tag.
  • To have the the commands wait for the user to press any key type pause
(Note: if you write pause >nul it won’t display Press Any key to continue…)
  • To have a complete high-speed description of files in the drive of the .bat file, type dir /s
  • You can also initiate any other command we covered earlier, such as shutdown, error message, etc.
And why no include all of these in one fake virus?
For example:
I can’t post the batch files here, as sharing .bat files over the internet is illegal.
Make sure you don’t do anything stupid with these tips.

Use your pc as alarm

Now this is specially for the ones who are too lazy to get up even when the trust cellphone dies screeching its
lungs out. Its pretty simple Creating the playlist create a playlist of your favourite songs in Winamp, WMP or
any other player. Export the playlist as a M3U playlist. M3U is generally accepted by almost every player.
Triggering the alarm point to start> programs >accessories > system tools >scheduled tasks Create a new
task and choose program as windows media player or winamp (May work with others too but I haven’t tried
anything else) Choose “daily”, Enter the time and choose “every day” at next screen. It would now ask for
password (leave blank in case you don’t have one) Right click on the newly created task and check the “run
only if logged in” check box. In the properties. Append the path to the playlist you created in the “run” text
box. It should now look like Code:
Code:
“D:\windows mediaplayer\wmplayer.exe”K:\Playlists\smoothies.m3uthe text inside quotes is my WMP’s path.
It may vary for you. The text after WMP’s path is the one to the playlist. Click OK and you’re done.

Play your fown mp3 songs in GTA vc

Here is the trick to do that.
There is a folder inside the GTA Vice City game folder called MP3. You can place your own MP3s into this folder.
If u hv installed the game in it’s default location den it’s path wld be
C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto Vice City\mp3
Inside the game, scroll through the various radio stations until you get to the one that is usually the last one (“Wave 103″). There will now be a new station listed as MP3 Player after the Wave 103 station. Select this, and you’re now listening to whatever music you placed into that folder. It will play in random order.

Text prediction in Windows Command

Linux and certain UNIX shells has the ability to predict user keystroke. If You are typing a
directory name or a filename and if it exists, using this feature would help you in avoiding
those extra keystrokes. If you think that only these Operating Systems have these features,
then you are wrong. Windows XP command environment has this feature. You have to use
TAB key. Assume you are in C:\drive and want to type autoexec.bat and there is a file that
exists by that name. In such cases you can simply type first few characters and press the TAB
key. You would really be amazed at this finding. Now tell me honestly, do you think that
Windows is not smart enough?

Arrange folders according to their size in Windows

When you select “Details” view in Windows Explorer(inside My Computer) it will show you everything about the folders and files the only thing it will not show you  is the size of your folders. It also does not allow you to arrange your folders according to their size. I often have to find which folder is taking most of my disk space and I have to go to properties of each and every folder to find out the culprit.
Today I finally found out the solution to this problem. Folder size for Windows Explorer is an open source project which will help you to see the folder size inside Windows Explorer. See this screen shot.

How to use it??

  1. First, make sure you’re running Windows 2000 or XP. Sorry, it doesn’t work in Vista.
  2. Download the installer (regular 32-bit) (XP x64).
  3. Run the downloaded file to start the install wizard. It has boring template text, so just keep clicking Next. Typical and Complete installs do the same thing, Custom lets you change where it gets installed.
  4. Now the Folder Size column is available to Explorer, but Explorer isn’t displaying it yet. Open an Explorer window in Details view.
  5. Right click on the column headers to see a list of columns you can add. Choose Folder Size.
  6. Now we can replace the existing Size column with the new Folder Size column. Right click on the column headers and uncheck the Size column. Drag the Folder Size column header to where Size used to be.
  7. Make this the default view for all folders. Go to Folder Options from the Tools menu. In the View tab, click Apply to All Folders.
If you are running an old system you may feel like you computer has become little slower then usual. At any point of time you can uninstall it from Add/Remove programs.

HOW TO Remove Language bar permanently from startup

Whenever I log on to my XP pro, the language bar is automatically loaded in my task bar. That’s really annoying. I never use this feature but it starts automatically every time and then I had to manually disable this. Today I finally found the permanent solution for this.
  • To disable language bar Go to start->Control Panel.
  • There click on Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options.
  • Now open Regional and Language Options which is at bottom right of the Window.
  • Now switch to language tab.
  • Click on Details button and there click on Language bar.
  • Uncheck the box that says “Show the Language bar on the desktop”.
  • Click OK and you are done. Now that stupid thing is not going to irritate you anymore.
Disable language bar

How To Lock hide your drives using Mountvol.exe

First of all, if you are a newbie then please don’t try this on your PC or keep a backup CD ready. This trick is for those who understands the consequences and have some experience with computer You may end up corrupting your current operating system.
This trick works with almost all latest versions of Windows OS’s.
  • Go to Start->Run->cmd and press Enter.
  • Type mountvol in cmd and press enter.
  • Now you can see all the drives in your system with the corresponding ID’s.

  • mountvol
  • Now suppose you want to hide your G: drive, note down the volume id for that drive. In my case for G: drive the volume id is \\?\Volume{96c924d1-7f19-11de-808a-806e6f6e6963}\.
This step is very important. If you don’t note down your volume id you will not be able to get your partition back.
  • Now the final step to hide your drive. Type mountvol G: /d to hide the G: drive.
  • To get your hidden drive back type mountvol g: [volume id]. For me it is \\?\Volume{96c924d1-7f19-11de-808a-806e6f6e6963}\. SO it will look something likemountvol g: \\?\Volume{96c924d1-7f19-11de-808a-806e6f6e6963}\
  • Be very careful while performing this trick. I am not responsible for any kind of loss.
Most important:Never try to hide your System Drive(The drive in which your OS is loaded). You may screwup your PC. So use it wisely.

How To Change windows xp boot screen

Mehod 1:

BootSkin

Stardock BootSkin is a program that allows users to change their Windows XP boot screens.
Unlike other programs that can change the Windows XP boot screens, BootSkin does so in a safe manner. It doesn’t patch the Windows XP kernel. Nor does it require the user to download replacement Windows XP kernels to do so.
Boot screens that use BootSkin are typically under 20K compared to other boot screen programs whose files are over 2 MEGABYTES.
See dis for more details
http://www.stardock.com/products/bootskin/
Method 2:
Open Resource Hacker and press ctrl+o now go to your Windows directory and then open System32 folder,and search for NToskrnl.exe file ,click on open.
See this screenshot for help :
Change XP Boot Screen
Change XP Boot Screen
After opening expand Bitmap and you can change the bootscreen by replacing the default bitmaps to your own created bitmaps.
Press ctrl+s and you are done. Now reboot your PC and see now you will see your own boot screen and not the default one.
Method 3:(Not Recommended)
These instructions assume that you already have the boot screen(ntoskrnl.exe) downloaded from net.
1. Backup (copy) the file %windir%\system32\ntoskrnl.exe (most likely C:\windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe – the boot screen)
2. Download the .zip to your computer
3. Extract ntoskrnl.exe to a directory other than %windir%\system32 (most likely C:\windows\system32)
4. Reboot your computer into Safe Mode (hit F8 before the boot screen) or into true DOS (from a boot disk)
5. Overwrite the file %windir%\system32\ntoskrnl.exe (which should have been backed up) with the extracted exe
6. Reboot your computer as you normally would

Stopping Unneeded Startup Services

Along with the core operating system and programs that Windows XP runs when it
starts, there is also a host of services involved. Many of these services are necessary
for Windows XP to operate correctly. However, many of them are for features in
Windows XP that you may not use at all. You can peruse the services and disable any
service that you do not want to run. The fewer services that run, the more quickly
Windows XP will boot.
To reduce the number of services that start on bootup, you can access two different
areas of Windows XP.
o The first is the System Configuration Utility. You can do that by entering the
command “msconfig” in the run menu.
Start Run “msconfig” (without quotes) || Hit Enter
The Services tab shows you the services that start when the computer
boots. You can stop a service from starting by simply clearing the check box
next to the service and clicking OK.
o However, before you do so, there is another way to disable services that you
may prefer because the interface gives you more information about the service
in question.
Open Control Panel Administrative Tools Services or
Start Run “services.msc” || Hit Enter
Take a quick look at common services you may want to live without:
Automatic Updates: This service enables Windows XP to check the Web
automatically for updates. If you don’t want to use Automatic Updates, you can
disable the service.
Computer Browser: If your computer is not on a network, you don’t need this service.
If you are on a network, leave it alone.
DHCP Client: If you are not on a network, you do not need this service. If you are on
a small workgroup, you can still increase boot time by configuring manual IP.
DNS Client: If you are not on a network, you do not need this service.
Error Reporting and Event Log: You don’t have to use these services but they can be
very helpful, so I would leave them configured as automatic.
Fax: If you don’t use your computer for fax services, you can disable this one.
Help and Support: Disable if you never use the Windows XP Help and Support
Center.
IMAPI CD-Burning COM: This service enables you to burn CDs on your computer.
If you never burn CDs, you can disable the service without any second thoughts.
Indexing Service: Your computer keeps an index of all the files. But if you rarely
search for files, the service is just a resource hog. You can stop it
Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing: If you do not use these features, plz
disable.
Infrared Monitor: If you do not use infrared devices, you can disable this service.
Messenger: This service sends alert messages on a local area network (it is not the
same as Windows Messenger). If you are not on a network, you can disable this
service.
Print Spooler: If you do not do any printing from the computer, you can disable this
service. If you print, make sure you leave it as automatic.
Remote Registry: This service allows remote users to modify the Registry on your
computer. If you are not on a network, you can disable this service.
System Restore Service: This service allows you to use System Restore. If you have
turned off System Restore anyway, you do not need to turn off the service.
Themes: If you do not use themes, you can disable this service.
Windows Image Acquisition: If you do not use scanners or digital cameras, you can
disable.
Wireless Zero Configuration: If do not use wireless networking devices, you can
disable.
